Thanks For Your Interest!

Outdoor gardening with SUB-Tropical plants has been my hobby for over 30 years.

I love seeing my Cold Hardy Banana and Palm Trees come alive each Spring after our sometimes very cold nights here in Atlanta.

Over the years we have managed to collect many beautiful SUB-TROPICAL plant species that do very well here. Our plants have helped many of our neighbors to transform their yards and properties into beautiful, tropical oasis.

Unfortunately some of our neighbors have purchased TROPICAL banana trees, palm trees and other tropical or exotic plants from local building supply stores, only to discover they died over winter.

Our Banana trees often reach 20 foot in one season!

DID YOU KNOW?

Bananas plants are often called Banana Trees.  Bananas are actually a herb with a succulent pseudo stem rather than a wood trunk. Therefore they are not really trees!  With that in mind we will still call it a tree because it looks like a tree!

Every part of the banana tree is 100% useable!

Bananas when fully ripe are served as a desert and considered a delicacy by some.

Banana flowers are edible, the pedals are dipped in batter and deep fried or used in soups.

Banana Stem (the heart of the tree) is used to make many delicious soups and dishes.

Banana leaves are used as plates or for serving food on.

Banana leaves are also used to wrap meats and fish in for cooking on the grill or on hot coals.

The banana stalk contains an abundance of water and minerals, when the juice is squeezed out it is used in many cultures for numerous uses including cleansing the bowels.

Banana fiber is used for making paper and strong ropes.

Banana trees reproduce by putting out sprouts around the main plant called pups, these become new trees.

Over time you can have a Banana clump or even a Banana grove!

IN THE MOVIES AND ON TV:

Our banana trees were used to create a Vietnamese, tropical jungle scene for the action packed series "Cobra Kai" which is being filmed in the Atlanta area. The action packed Netflix® show, picks up where the movie "The Karate Kid" left off over 30 years ago.

The movie industry around Atlanta and national magazine articles often incorporates our plants and flowers in their props to create unique, realistic tropical scenes.
